  1. The Government of Evil Machines: an Application of Romano Guardini’s Thought on Technology.Enrico Beltramini - 2021 - Scientia et Fides 9 (1):257-281.
In this article I propose a theological reflection on the philosophical assumptions behind the idea that intelligent machine can be governed through ethical protocols, which may apply either to the people who develop the machines or to the machines themselves, or both. This idea is particularly relevant in the case of machines’ extreme wrongdoing, a wrongdoing that becomes an existential risk for humankind. I call this extreme wrong-doing, ‘evil.’ Thus, this article is a theological account on the philosophical assumptions behind (...)

  • Theoriegeleitete Bestimmung von Objektmengen und Beobachtungsintervallen am Beispiel des Halleyschen Kometen.Ulrich Gähde - 2012 - Philosophia Naturalis 49 (2):207-224.
The starting point of the following considerations is a case study concerning the discovery of Halley's comet and the theoretical description of its path. It is shown that the set of objects involved in that system and the time interval during which their paths are observed are determined in a theory dependent way – thereby making use of the very theory later used for that system's theoretical description. Metatheoretical consequences this fact has with respect to the structuralist view of empirical (...)

  • The Concept of Krisis in Husserl’s The Crisis of the European Sciences and Transcendental Phenomenology.George Heffernan - 2017 - Husserl Studies 33 (3):229-257.
In The Crisis of the European Sciences and Transcendental Phenomenology, Husserl argues that the only way to respond to the scientific Krisis of which he speaks is with phenomenological reflections on the history, method, and task of philosophy. On the assumption that an accurate diagnosis of a malady is a necessary condition for an effective remedy, this paper aims to formulate a precise concept of the Krisis of the European sciences with which Husserl operates in this work. Thus it seeks (...)
