Abstract

The notion “language” seems to be stablished in a problematic and confused way: although certainly it shows an essential reality of man, on the other hand it designates various areas within the same cultural reality. This essay parts from a supposition: only through verbal signs (words) we can reach Knowledge. To demonstrate the previous statement, we will show the approaches of philosophers and specialist, in their own scenario, consider the word as the language, like a distinctive characteristic of the human, that expresses its own rational condition. And by virtue of this, it is aimed at creating a space for reflection about the essential quality in human language, understood not as a repository of knowledge, but as the knowledge itself, the expression of the spirit of a people, loyal to its own image.
