A short essay investigating the question of the decline of art and aesthetics in contemporary society. Widely influenced by the critical tradition of the Frankfurt school and by authors such as T. W. Adorno, Max Horkheimer and Walter Benjamin I criticize the Kantian and Hegelian inheritance of the concept of beauty and its bourgeois foundation and perpetuation. My idea is that an authentic art that is considered as such must be imbued with a concept since it is otherwise a spectacle with pseudo-intellectual pretense.
