Abstract

Guidelines for enhancing the management of learning of social studies serve as a tool for coexistence in a multicultural society for teachers in the 21st century. The guidelines must focus on enabling students to perform their duty in line with the life in the globalized society based on diversity. This could be achieved by learning to live with others and learning to advance to higher level thinking processes, learning exchange skills, and possessing social skills. Ultimately learners maintain desirableperformance attributes advocated by the teachers as learning goals through various means in the integration of a social studies course material with a local community context where students live. The aim was created a sense of awareness in the diversity of local cultures, recognizing the cultural identity of one-self and others, and an acceptance of the culture in a broader sense. This approach would help the students with the learning process and a person of learning to live together in a multicultural society more effectively.
