Learning activities in social studies for the development of good citizenship through democratic approach among the 21st century

Abstract

Education is the key to national development and a cornerstone in the development of perfect human, particularly in a changing and dynamic world of the 21st century. Therefore, it is the duty of teachers, especially in the social studies learning subject, to provide assistance to the learners to be able live as an individual and the co-existence in the society. In the learning process, the teachers must undergo the following procedures: 1. Preparation stage, 2.Putting the learning process into practice, and 3.Evaluation. The procedures are operated by raising awareness of the importance and role of citizenship in a democratic society, including knowledge, skills and attitudes of individuals in functioning as a good citizen through the democratic approach.
