Learning management guidelines for social studies, religion and culture in geography subject group for teachers of the 21st century

Abstract

Thai society has recognized the importance of developing knowledge of the learners in the 21st century due to an increasing role of information technology present and future education. Social studies teacher in the geography subject group have to adjust to their new worldview in stepping into the fast changing modernity. A teacher in the new era is not only the a person who conducts teaching but also a person who helps solve problems, points out what is right or wrong of what learners receive from the media outside the classroom. Social studies teacher teach students to use geographic tools correctly and appropriately. Additionally, these teachers also use teaching techniques that enhance students to acquire knowledge from sources outside the classroom. Students are practiced to work as a team and provided with a conductive environment to learning. Therefore, it is necessary for a 21st century teachers to study the social studies, religion and culture in a geography subject group in order to have potential in developing students’ competence in competing with other countries on a sustainable basis.
