Abstract

Thailand is ruled by majority democratic vote but the majority could lead to illegitimate authority of a large group of people’s desires due to the principle of democratic legitimacy. Respect for human rights is fundamental to democracy in listening to different aspects of equality and justices. Therefore, the proposed solution - diversity of opinion by peaceful means - should be molded into the body of knowledge on human rights in social studies within a democratic society. Teachers are a key mechanism in the preparation of people to become effective citizens. Learners need to be trained to recognize their similarities and differences related to other people. When people cease to respect each other, they may cause the infringement of others’ rights and freedom. Our approach can make the students peacefully live with democratic rights and coexist with other people.
