Learning management guidelines in social studies using the problem solving thinking process for the 21st century learners

Abstract

The key mechanism in the development of human being is education, which is essential to human life in making their own decision appropriate with changes in the 21st century society. In this era, social studies is a subject that plays an important role in the development of human thought in planning, decision making, and solving the problem by thorough assessing the situations. All of these behaviors enable the learners to make reasonable prediction and they can be applied in everyday life. Therefore, social studies teachers need to learn and adapt themselves to cope with the media information and the social dynamics by applying the process of learning management for problem solving thinking for learners of the 21st century, focusing on the systematic discovery, problem solving approach with actual self-practice and the scientific method.
