Abstract

Guidelines for learning management in social studies, as historical substance in creating Thai-ness consciousness require teachers to promote the skills needed in managing learning historical substance where learners gain knowledge, process skill, positive attitudes and good values. In order to achieve these aims, the teacher must serve to stimulate learning in the students to practice on their own in the pursuit of knowledge. Teachers are only required to give advice in organizing learning activities. This can be conducted by the historical method in order for students to gather information, search for data, make connection, analyze, synthesize and interpret, describe and outline the knowledge acquired from activities interested by students. Activities organized include exhibition of student’s work, writing about the process concept and results of the project or piece of work for others to understand. The teachers need to promote desirable characteristics of the learners by making them appreciate the values of and cooperation in the conservation of wisdom, cultural and local traditional heritage, as well as linking the knowledge gained and utilizing historical study methods in their daily life with sustainable stability.
