Abstract

Progress in science and technology of global society these days enables humans to have easy and quick access to information occurring in this borderless world. There is a need in the modification of education to keep up with political, economic and social changes so that students can become good citizens and live happily with others. This forces social studies teachers to develop their learning processes in a regular basis using the lessons from the past as a case study in order to make learning atmosphere enjoyable and challenging. Learners are encouraged to appreciate their cultural roots, see their own values including those of others in order to live in the society of diversity so that they can be instilled with patriotism, retain their ancestral heritage, become good citizens and fully aware of Thai nationhood. Students are taught to be proud of being Thai as a sustained concept.
