This entirely new translation of Critique of Pure Reason by Paul Guyer and Allan Wood is the most accurate and informative English translation ever produced of this epochal philosophical text. Though its simple, direct style will make it suitable for all new readers of Kant, the translation displays a philosophical and textual sophistication that will enlighten Kant scholars as well. This new translation of the first Critique forms part of a fifteen-volume English-language edition of the works of Immanuel Kant under the general editorship of this volume’s editor-translators, Paul Guyer and Allen Wood. The edition, which is almost complete by now, comprises all of Kant’s published works along with extensive selections from his literary remains, his correspondence, and student transcripts of his lecture courses in metaphysics, ethics, logic, and anthropology. The Cambridge edition aims at a consistent English rendition of Kant’s (...) works, both within a given volume and across volumes. In terms of scope and detail, the Cambridge edition is unrivaled in any language, except for the authoritative Academy edition begun under the directorship of Wilhelm Dilthey in 1900, which, however, is still not completed and several volumes of which are in serious need of re-editing. This volume collects for the first time in a single volume all of Kant's writings on religion and rational theology. These works were written during a period of conflict between Kant and the Prussian authorities over his religious teachings. His final statement of religion was made after the death of King Frederick William II in 1797. The historical context and progression of this conflict are charted in the general introduction to the volume and in the translators' introductions to particular texts. (...) All the translations are new with the exception of The Conflict of the Faculties, where the translation has been revised and re-edited to conform to the guidelines of the Cambridge Edition. Anthropology, History, and Education contains all of Kant's major writings on human nature. Some of these works, which were published over a thirty-nine year period between 1764 and 1803, have never before been translated into English. Kant's question 'What is the human being?' is approached indirectly in his famous works on metaphysics, epistemology, moral and legal philosophy, aesthetics and the philosophy of religion, but it is approached directly in his extensive but less well-known writings on physical and cultural anthropology, the (...) philosophy of history, and education which are gathered in the present volume. Kant repeatedly claimed that the question 'What is the human being?' should be philosophy's most fundamental concern, and Anthropology, History, and Education can be seen as effectively presenting his philosophy as a whole in a popular guise. How should we understand religion, and what place should it hold, in an age in which metaphysics has come into disrepute? The metaphysical assumptions which supported traditional theologies are no longer widely accepted, but it is not clear how this 'end of metaphysics' should be understood, nor what implications it ought to have for our understanding of religion. بخار برآمده از قسمت‌های لطیف اخلاط موجود در بدن را روح بخاری می‌گویند. روح بخاری، لطیف‌ترین جزء بدن جسمانی به‌شمار می‌آید و نقش واسطه‌گری میان نفس مجرد و بدن مادی را به عهده دارد. ابن‌سینا در تبیین روح بخاری و مباحث مربوط به آن، توضیحات مبسوطی دارد که پس از وی این توضیحات در کلمات شیخ اشراق و ملاصدرا نیز قابل پی‌گیری است. روح بخاری از آن جهت که به سلامت و یا مرض بدن انسانی مربوط می‌شود مورد توجه اطبای (...) متقدم بوده و در طب قدیم از آن سخن به میان آمده است و در عین حال، از آن جهت که بر فرض قبول وجود آن،‌ می‌تواند نقش واسطه‌گری میان نفس و بدن را به عهده گیرد، مورد توجه فیلسوف قرار گرفته و در علم النفس، از آن بحث شده است. ابطال روح بخاری در پزشکی مدرن، خللی به علم النفس فلسفی وارد نمی‌سازد چون فیلسوف، روح بخاری را به عنوان اصل موضوعی از طب قدیم اخذ کرده است.
