Skiing and its Discontents: Assessing the Turist Experience From a Psychoanalytical, a Neuroscientific and a Sport Philosophical Perspective.Hub Zwart - 2017 - Sport, Ethics and Philosophy 11 (3):323-338.
This article addresses the question whether skiing as a nature sport enables practitioners to develop a rapport with nature, or rather estranges and insulates them from their mountainous ambiance. To address this question, I analyse a recent skiing movie from a psychoanalytical perspective and from a neuro-scientific perspective. I conclude that Jean-Paul Sartre’s classical but egocentric account of his skiing experiences disavows the technicity involved in contemporary skiing as a sportive practice for the affluent masses, which actually represents an urbanisation (...)

Carving Up Reality.Barry Smith - 2004 - In Michael Gorman & Jonathan Sanford (eds.), Categories: Historical and Systematic Essays. Catholic University of America Press. pp. 225-237.
If Mont Blanc is a vague object, then its vagueness will depend on the context in which reference is made. In a geological context the mountain might include only rock, perhaps together with a certain amount of air in the crevices and tunnels which have been formed beneath its surface. In a context of soil chemistry we might include also a surrounding thin layer of organic matter. In a skiing context we might include some snow. This essay sketches in informal (...)

  4. O etyce niezależnej Tadeusza Kotarbińskiego.Przemysław Spryszak - 2016 - Argument: Biannual Philosophical Journal 6 (2):429-454.
In this paper I briefly discuss principles of “independent ethics” formulated and popularized by the Polish philosopher Tadeusz Kotarbiński. I focus on the notion of “conscience” which seems to play a fundamental role in this moral theory.

  5. Notes From Greenland.Maria Bittner - manuscript
Tuesday evening, December 27, 1983 …I did go skiing today, though, which is what I want to write about. The temperature is down to –10°C again, on my thermometer, which probably means –12 to –13°C, in real terms. The visibility is still very poor though the wind has stopped. I set off at 2 pm and got home at about 4 pm, which meant skiing in the dark all the time. This wouldn’t have bothered me except that I had an (...)

The Political Uses of Philosophy-Elective Affinities in the Spanish Transition to Democracy.F. Colom - 2004 - Filozofia 59 (3-4):156-171.

Psychológia Vedy A Vedeckého Myslenia.Imrich Ruisel - unknown
Každodenná existencia človeka je významne ovplyvnená dôsledkami zvláštneho poznávacieho úsilia nazývaného veda. Veda je pojem, zahŕňajúci rôznorodé aktivity, orientované či už na predpoveď počasia, konštruovanie inteligentných zbraní, výrobu vakcíny proti AIDS, odhady ekonomického rastu, hľadanie života na Marse, odhaľovanie príčin agresivity, prípadne na štúdium podstaty ľudskej inteligencie. Je to hľadanie značne neusporiadané a nedôsledné, neraz bez stanovovania základných priorít. Značné plytvanie intelektovým potenciá- lom ľudstva vyplýva z faktu, že doposiaľ sa nepodarilo vybudovať systém, umožňujúci dlhodobo skladovať užitočné informácie využiteľné nielen (...)

  8. First-Person Imaginings.Stephan Torre - manuscript
There are different ways in which imaginings can involve the first-person. I can imagine skiing down a mountain, looking down the slope, the wind whipping me in the face. I can also imagine myself skiing down a mountain from the outside, adopting the point of view of a spectator watching myself fly down the mountain. I can also imagine that I am someone else entirely, say Angela Merkel, skiing down a mountain. In this paper I develop and defend a new (...)

Implications From a Cult Location of Winter Tourism: The Case of MooserWirt in Sankt Anton.Orhan Yabanci - 2019 - In A. Cavus (ed.), the 1st International Winter Tourism Congress. Erzurum: pp. 486.
Many people go outdoors in winter for skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowmobiling and some other activities that all fall within the realm of winter tourism. Winter tourism is a source of both personal and public health, and thus a source of prosperous living. Along with that, it is a conspicuous economic phenomenon that generates millions of dollars in annual revenue for stakeholders. Hence, this type of tourism is of top importance, and thus one of the main concerns to many snowy destinations (...)
