El presente trabajo plantea el sentido y el uso de los retruécanos tomados como parte del conocimiento lingüístico, tratando de reconstruir desde ese punto de partida el yugo viquiano de los saberes , y dotando de contenido el lado filológico. El trabajo destaca aportaciones contemporáneas congeniales con el planteamiento viquiano, e insiste particularmente en el significado de la ironía y en las analogías como construcciones retóricas del conocimiento lingüístico. Entre las conclusiones, cabe señalar las consecuencias que se derivan de una (...) interpretación radical del contacto entre literatura y discurso.The present paper discusses the meaning and use of puns considered as part of linguistic knowledge. It starts from the Viquian bond of learning, i.e. philosphy and philology, trying to give dimensions and content to the philological side. In this spirit, the paper refers to different contemporary approaches that match the Vichian program. Particularly, this paper defends irony and play as rhetorical devices and analogy as a parallel form of creativity. On of the conclusions appeals to the consequences we may infer form a radical interpretation of the contact between literature and discourse. (shrink)

At the core of Heidegger's philosophy, there lies this nagging question: what is the link between language and being? Using a famous formulation by Heidegger as a guide (‘When we go to the well, when we go through the woods, we are always already going through the word “well”, through the word “woods”’), the analysis focuses on the connection Heidegger establishes between being (what woods and well ‘are’), understanding (something is understood ‘as’ woods or well), and temporality (human understanding of (...) woods and well has changed since ancient Greek times, for example). Language is both what grants things their way to matter to us and thus to ‘be’ for us to the extent that we understand them, but language is also linked to a ‘happening’ (Geschehen) or an event so that things are not bound to their Geek being or current being: things ‘become being’ (seiend werden). Language is both the means for things to materialize in historical times: ‘being woods’ or ‘being a well,’ as well as a testimony to their entry into being. This is why language in its poetic use can make beings ‘more being’ (seiender). (shrink)

“Apel and Gadamer’s Philosophical Hermeneutics”. This paper seeks to reconstruct the core of Apel’s criticism of Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics. In order to achieve this, three texts post-Transformation of Philosophy by Apel are analyzed. All of them go beyond the debate between hermeneutics and critique of ideology. Throughout the paper I will attempt to demonstrate that the concepts introduced by Apel offer the possibility of an enlightened or critical normative hermeneutics.

This work emphasizes the influence in Apel of the named Critique of Meaning developed by Wittgenstein and Peirce. We reconstruct the foundations of the recognitionof a linguistic a priori, and of the semiotic-anthropological radicalization, that leads to the conception that man can be understood as thought-sign. It also shows the way Apel believes that such thought-sign is inscribed in the context of a supraindividualenviroment, where it develops its own individuality. From that approach, a transformation of the subject function in the (...) interpreter function of the signs has to be done in order to create a new answer to the problem of intersubjectivity. The ArgumentScience consists in progress by innovation. Scientists, however, are committed to all kinds of traditions that persist or recur in society regardless of intellectual and institutional changes. Merton's thesis about the origins of the scientific revolution in seventeenth-century England offers a sociohistorical confirmation of this revisionist view: the emergence of a highly rational scientific method out of the religious-ethical sentiments of the English Puritans implies that scientific knowledge does indeed grow out of – and not really against – customary (...) modes of thought.In tracing the intellectual origins of this view back to the religious controversy between Protestants and Catholics, the essay demonstrates that the essential conflict between them with regard to natural science stemmed from their antagonistic conceptions of tradition and its function in the production of genuineknowledge– of religious as well as of natural affairs. Whereas the Protestants believed only in those truths that are immediately revealed by God to each man through his reason, the Catholics adhered to truths that are related to men or “made” by them through culture and history. Starting from the Humboldtian characterization of Chinese writing as a "script of thoughts," this article makes an attempt to show that notwithstanding the important role played by phonetic elements, the Chinese script also relies on visual-graphical means in its constitution of meaning. In point of structure, Chinese characters are made up predominantly of components that are sensible or even tangible in nature. Out of these sensible components, not only physical objects or empirical states of affairs can be expressed, but also (...) the most subtle and abstract concepts, such as 萬, 它, 言, 災, 仁, 義, 思, 念, 法, 律, 善, 考, 莫, 瞏, and 幾, attesting to what Humboldt says about the Chinese script as having "embraced philosophical work within itself." Humboldt's idea of "analogy of script" throws light on the mechanism behind this structure to stimulate new reflections on the traditional theory of the "Six Ways" (六書) of character formation to provide a productive platform for interpretation. Este trabajo plantea la necesidad de un análisis semántico de la noción de ‘aspecto’ en la Scienza nuova, y la afirmación de una instancia de comprensión filosófica. La dimensión de la aspectualidad, pensada filosóficamente, se sitúa en el origen de la correlación entre percepción imaginativa, por un lado, y, por otro, comunicación y comprensión de naturaleza expresiva, afectivamente marcada y multisensorial. En ella Vico ha indicado, mediante el modelo genético y funcional de las tres lenguas, la condición necesaria para comprender (...) el desarrollo del lenguaje específicamente humano.PALABRAS CLAVE: Vico, aspecto, aspectualidad, Scienza nuova, percepción imaginativa, lingüística, filosofía.The aim of this paper is to show the necessity of a semantic approach to the concept of‘aspect’ in the Scienza nuova, as well as to defend a particular way of philosophicalcomprehension. From a philosophical point of view, the dimension of aspectuality is in the origin of the correlation between imaginative perception on the one hand, and communication and expressive comprehension on the other .
