Phil* sites are platforms for the philosophical community to discuss, connect, and share in an open environment. That’s why we have developed a Content Policy and Code of Conduct that outline what is and is not allowed on the Phil* sites. Our Standards apply around the world to all types of content.

Content Policy

PhilPapers and PhilArchive accepts works of all types (articles, books, dissertations) primarily in philosophy. We do accept works which are not philosophical given they are either: a) cross disciplinary work, or b) work which would be of interest to philosophers. All work submitted should be of professional quality. Typically works are available online, but we also accept references to offline works.

The following type of content is prohibited on all Phil* sites:

• Threatens, harasses, or bullies or encourages others to do so
• Contains unauthorized personal or confidential information about others
• Impersonates someone in a misleading or deceptive manner
• Is spam
• Infringes, misappropriates or violates a third party’s patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, moral rights or other intellectual property rights, or rights of publicity or privacy
• Violates any applicable law or regulation or would give rise to civil liability
• Is fraudulent or pornographic
• Promotes bigotry, racism, hatred, harassment or against any individual or group
• Is violent or threatening or promotes violence or actions that are threatening to any person or entity

Prohibited behavior

In addition to not submitting unwelcome content, the following behaviors are prohibited on Phil* sites

• Breaking a Phil* site or doing anything that interferes with normal use of the Phil* sites
• Creating multiple accounts to evade punishment or avoid restrictions

Enforcement

We have a variety of ways of enforcing our rules, including, but not limited to:

• Removal of content
• Asking you nicely to stop
• Temporary or permanent suspension of accounts
• Removal of privileges from, or adding restrictions to, accounts
