  • Omniscience and the Identification Problem.Robert Bass - 2007 - Florida Philosophical Review 7 (1):78-91.
    I discuss the propositional knowledge of an omniscient being, knowledge of facts that can be represented by that-clauses in sentences such as ‘John knows that the world is round.’ I shall focus upon questions about a supposedly omniscient being who propositionally knows the truth about all current states of affairs.     I review several theoretical and empirical developments relevant to assessing contemporary virtue epistemology’s theory of knowledge. What emerges is a leaner theory of knowledge that is more empirically adequate, better captures the ordinary conception of knowledge, and is ripe for cross-fertilization with cognitive science. I call this view abilism. Along the way I identify several topics for future research.

    The present paper’s aim is to outline a definition of “analyticity” through assuming a framework whose basic concepts are taken from rhetoric. Thus, assuming particular examples from the history of analytic philosophy – i.e. philosophers that are commonly considered “analytic” - the author shows how many shared patterns are recognisable within their argumentations, explanations, beginnings and conclusions. A previous extensional definition of “analytical philosophy” is not assumed; hence the concluded remarks can be taken as features of any analytic philosopher.

  • Falsifying the falsity criterion: a reply to Porcher.Hane Htut Maung - 2015 - Dialogues in Philosophy, Mental and Neuro Sciences 8 (1):32-33.
    In an article in a previous issue of this journal, I argue against the falsity criterion in the definition of delusion by presenting cases of delusions that are not false. I thank José Eduardo Porcher for his thought-provoking reply to my article. Although Porcher agrees that the falsity criterion is incorrect, he argues that my method of showing this is unsatisfactory on the grounds that it relies on a pre-defined conception of delusion.
