The result appears to be in agreement with the experimental results ofDulbecco.In the mathematical treatment of the problem a distinction is made between ordinary genes, with probability of inactivation negligible relative to the probability of inactivation of the whole phage, and a few vulnerable centers or genes whose probability of inactivation is not negligible.
