The aim of this paper is to describe the history of logical investigations at the University of Poznań. The organisational structures within the discipline as well as the outstanding logicians and their achievements are presented. Connections with the Lviv–Warsaw School are indicated.

RésuméOn se propose ?on;examiner, sous le nom général de convention, la nature et le rôle des présuppositions non directement inspirées par ľexpérience, en particulier dans les sciences de ľhomme. Deux fonctions sont alors distinguées, la fonction norme et la fonction axiome.La première est caractérisée sur trois exemples empruntés à la linguistique: la normativité du phonème; celle qui se manifeste dans la conception glossématique de Hjelmslev; celle qu'intro‐duit Chomsky en posant la grammaire comme objet de la linguistique.Pour la seconde, on étudiera (...) la fonction axiome en Economique, dans le cas des théories de ľEquilibre général.La conclusion proposée concerne, ?on;une part, la spécificity des conventions dans les sciences de ľhomme: elles contribuent à la constitution comme objets des faits humains, en neutralisant le vécu en tant que vécu, dont elles visent à transposer les contenus en contenus formels. Elle concerne, ?on;autre part, le bien‐fondé seulement partiel du nominalisme, qui met à juste titre en vedette ľappareil symbolique de la science, mais sans reconnaître sa fonction constitutive de projet transcendental.SummaryUnder the general name of “conventions”, we consider the nature and role of such presuppositions that are not directly inspired by experience, especially in the scientific knowledge of human facts. Two functions of the “conventions“ are to be distinguished: the “norm” function and the “axiom” function.We examine the first one in the field of linguistics, by presenting three examples: the normative role of the phoneme concept, on the glossematic point of view, and of the notion of “Grammar” in Chomsky's works.The second one will be studied on the case of the axiomatic elaborations of a Theory of General Equilibrium in Economics.As a conclusion, firstly, the specific character of “conventions” in the so called Human Sciences is pointed out; they contribute to the constitution of human facts as objects, with a view to transposing their empirical contents into formal contents. Secondly, from a more general standpoint, a nominalistic conception of Science appears to be admissible only partially, in so far as it rightly brings out the importance of symbolic instruments, but does not recognize their transcendental function in construing the objects.ZusammenfassungEs werden unter der allgemeinen Bezeichnung Konvention die Natur und die Rolle von Vor‐aussetzungen untersucht, die im besonderen in den Humanwissenschaften nicht unmittelbar durch die Erfahrung inspiriert sind. Zwei Funktionen werden unterschieden, namlich die der Norm und die des Axioms.Die erste wird durch drei Beispiele exemplifiziert, die der Linguistik entnommen sind: die Normativität des Phonems; diejenige, die sich in der glossematischen Konzeption von Hjelms‐lev manifestiert; diejenige, die Chomsky einfuhrt, indem er die Grammatik als Gegenstand der Linguistik setzt.Was die zweite betrifft, so wird die Funktion der Norm im Falle der Theorien des Allgemei‐nen Gleichgewichtes in der Ökonomie untersucht.Die Konklusion betrifft einerseits die Besonderheit der Konventionen in den Humanwis‐senschaften: sie tragen zur Konstitution von menschlichen Fakten als Gegenstände bei, indem sie das Erlebte als Erlebtes neutralisieren, d. h. dessen Inhalte in formate Inhalte verwandeln. Ande‐rerseits betrifft sie die nur teilweise Berechtigung des Nominaiismus, der zwar mit Recht den symbolischen Apparat der Wissenschaft hervorhebt, ohne jedoch die konstitutive Funktion des transzendentalen Unternehmens einzusehen.
