  1. The Gender Binary Meets the Gender-Variant Child: Parents’ Negotiations with Childhood Gender Variance.Elizabeth P. Rahilly - 2015 - Gender and Society 29 (3):338-361.
Until recently, raising a young child as transgender was culturally unintelligible. Most scholarship on transgender identity refers to adults’ experiences and perspectives. Now, the increasing visibility of gender-variant children, as they are identified by the parents who raise them, presents new opportunities to examine how individuals confront the gender binary and imagine more gender-inclusive possibilities. • Using Gender to Undo Gender: A Feminist Degendering Movement.Judith Lorber - 2000 - Feminist Theory 1 (1):79-95.
Women’s status in the Western world has improved enormously, but the revolution that would make women and men truly equal has not yet occurred. • William Wants A Doll. Can He Have One? Feminists, Child Care Advisors, and Gender-Neutral Child Rearing.Karin A. Martin - 2005 - Gender and Society 19 (4):456-479.
Using an analysis of child care books and parenting Web sites, this article asks if second-wave feminism’s vision of gender-neutral child rearing has been incorporated into contemporary advice on child rearing. The data suggest that while feminist understandings of gender have made significant inroads into popular advice, especially with regard to the social construction of gender, something akin to “a stalled revolution” has taken place. Children’s gender nonconformity is still viewed as problematic because it is linked implicitly and explicitly to (...)

  • Identity dimensions versus proactive coping in late adolescence while taking into account biological sex and psychological gender.Bartosz Karcz & Dorota Kalka - 2016 - Polish Psychological Bulletin 47 (3):300-310.
The aim of study was to investigate the relationship between proactive coping strategies and the dimensions of identity formation, along with the role of biological sex and psychological gender as moderators for this relationship. We conducted analyses aimed at showing differences in terms of identity dimensions levels and proactive coping strategies used by a group of individuals with different biological sex and psychological gender. A group of 101 students from upper secondary schools from Pomeranian Voivodeship took part in the study. (...)
