  1. Truth and relevancy.Gustavo E. Romero - 2017 - Metatheoria – Revista de Filosofía E Historia de la Ciencia 7:25--30.
There are several types of truths. In this paper I focus on semantic truths, and within these on factual truths. These truths are attributed to statements. I review the theory of the truth proposed by Bunge and discuss some problems that it presents. I suggest that a theory of truth of factual statements should be complemented by a theory of relevance, and propose the basic tenets of it. Finally, I briefly discuss the nature of propositions and the problem of scientific (...)

  • Analogy Among Systems.P. Weingartner - 1979 - Dialectica 33 (3‐4):355-378.
SummaryAfter giving examples for different relations of analogy among different objects the gist of analogy relations are interpreted as homomorphism and isomorphism . The main purpose of the paper is to give a number of precise definitions for different kinds of analogy . In chapter 7 definitions are proposed for analogy relations between theories and common features of the relations T1 is anologous to T2 and T1 is interpretable in T2 are discussed. Chapter 8 compares analogy and transformation and chapter (...)

  • Can the History of Science Contribute to Modelling in Physics Teaching?Juliana Machado & Marco Antônio Barbosa Braga - 2016 - Science & Education 25 (7-8):823-836.
A characterization of the modelling process in science is proposed for science education, based on Mario Bunge’s ideas about the construction of models in science. Galileo’s Dialogues are analysed as a potentially fruitful starting point to implement strategies aimed at modelling in the classroom in the light of that proposal. It is argued that a modelling process for science education can be conceived as the evolution from phenomenological approaches towards more representational ones, emphasizing the role of abstraction and idealization in (...)
