The essays collected in this volume are all concerned with the connection between fiction and truth. Examines the role of experience within Adorno’s philosophy of language and epistemology.

Cet article a pour but d’articuler la question des rapports entre raison et passions à l’âge classique en partant d’une investigation philosophique du célèbre récit de Mme de Lafayette, paru en 1678. Nous chercherons à montrer que La Princesse de Clèves met au jour, par une éclatante résonnance intertextuelle, la vaste reproblématisation morale et anthropologique du rapport entre raison et passions qui s’opère dans la deuxième moitié du XVII e siècle, sous l’impulsion notamment de la radicalisation janséniste des thèses augustiniennes. Nous verrons que le rôle architectonique qui était jusqu’alors dévolu à la raison depuis Platon, en tant que faculté souveraine capable de commander pour ainsi dire les passions « d’en haut », s’y trouve pour une large mesure relativisée, ce qui préfigure le renoncement humien à la représentation de la raison comme partie supérieure et rationnelle de l’âme. This article presents a reflection of the epistemological question of literary representation of reality. The epistemological status of literature is not obvious, because literature is fictional. Therefore, it is not evident in what way literature represents reality and to what degree the literary representation is true in the corresponding sense of the word. Through an exploration of Proust and his reflections on the same question in A la recherche du temp perdu, this article will analyse the representational question. This analysis (...) will focus on a conflict between an essential understanding of truth, detached from the temporal reality, and a superficial referential realism. It will present an alternative phenomenological and semiotic realism, which connects the specific description in literature with a general conceptual level. In addition, the relationship between the perceptual and conceptual level will further be linked to cognitive semantics and Lakoff’s concept of cognitive models. (shrink)
