  1. A logic of graded attributes.Radim Belohlavek & Vilem Vychodil - 2015 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 54 (7-8):785-802.
We present a logic for reasoning about attribute dependencies in data involving degrees such as a degree to which an object is red or a degree to which two objects are similar. The dependencies are of the form A ⇒ B and can be interpreted in two ways: first, in data tables with entries representing degrees to which objects have attributes ; second, in database tables where each domain is equipped with a similarity relation. We assume that the degrees form (...)

  • Probability logic of finitely additive beliefs.Chunlai Zhou - 2010 - Journal of Logic, Language and Information 19 (3):247-282.
Probability logics have been an active topic of investigation of beliefs in type spaces in game theoretical economics. Beliefs are expressed as subjective probability measures. Savage’s postulates in decision theory imply that subjective probability measures are not necessarily countably additive but finitely additive. In this paper, we formulate a probability logic Σ + that is strongly complete with respect to this class of type spaces with finitely additive probability measures, i.e. a set of formulas is consistent in Σ + iff (...)

  • Non-Archimedean fuzzy and probability logic.Andrew Schumann - 2008 - Journal of Applied Non-Classical Logics 18 (1):29-48.
In this paper the non-Archimedean multiple-validity is proposed for basic fuzzy logic BL∀∞ that is built as an ω-order extension of the logic BL∀. Probabilities are defined on the class of fuzzy subsets and, as a result, for the first time the non-Archimedean valued probability logic is constructed on the base of BL∀∞.

  • Fuzzy Logic Programming and Fuzzy Control.Giangiacomo Gerla - 2005 - Studia Logica 79 (2):231-254.
We show that it is possible to base fuzzy control on fuzzy logic programming. Indeed, we observe that the class of fuzzy Herbrand interpretations gives a semantics for fuzzy programs and we show that the fuzzy function associated with a fuzzy system of IF-THEN rules is the fuzzy Herbrand interpretation associated with a suitable fuzzy program.

  • Point-Free Geometry and Verisimilitude of Theories.Giangiacomo Gerla - 2007 - Journal of Philosophical Logic 36 (6):707-733.
A metric approach to Popper's verisimilitude question is proposed which is related to point-free geometry. Indeed, we define the theory of approximate metric spaces whose primitive notions are regions, inclusion relation, minimum distance, and maximum distance between regions. Then, we show that the class of possible scientific theories has the structure of an approximate metric space. So, we can define the verisimilitude of a theory as a function of its (approximate) distance from the truth. This avoids some of the difficulties (...)
