  1. A Moral Foundations Framing Approach: Retail Investors’ Investment Intention in Ethical Mutual Funds.Jared L. Peifer & Jing Liu - 2022 - Business and Society 61 (7):1804-1837.
Existing research suggests people with stronger moral character traits are more inclined to ethical investing. We take a moral foundations framing approach that synthesizes framing theory and moral foundations theory to investigate whether a moral state of mind created by moral foundations frames can also increase retail investors’ ethical investment intention. • New Perspectives on Base of the Pyramid Strategies.Jenny Hillemann, Jeremy Hall, Alain Verbeke, Laura Michelini & Nikolay A. Dentchev - 2022 - Business and Society 61 (8):1977-1991.

  • Poverty Porn as Humanitarian Business: The Effects of Framing, Affect Intensity, and Spokesperson Characteristics.Haseeb Shabbir, Roger Bennett, Rita Kottasz, Rohini Vijaygopal, Bettina Gardasz, Julian Adams & Paddy Kendall - forthcoming - Business and Society.
Motivated by controversies surrounding the continued employment of poverty porn in humanitarian business, we initiated two 2 × 2 × 2 experiments to examine the extent to which humanitarian ads that utilize poverty porn images weaponize fundraising. Informed by negative state relief and Affect Intensity Theory, the two investigations explored the effects on study participants of the inclusion within ad appeals of images of starving children, ad spokespeople of disparate gender and ethnicity, and different types of message frame. A 2 (...)

  • Relational or Transactional? The Importance of Distinguishing Two Types of Community-Supported Business Models.Michaela Hausdorf & Jana-Michaela Timm - forthcoming - Business and Society.
Scholars are increasingly exploring community-supported businesses (CSBs) as promising alternatives to conventional ones. However, researchers are so far overlooking that CSBs vary in their underlying business models, that is, how they propose, create, and capture value. We apply a multi-staged qualitative research process to carve out the differences between community-supported business models (CSBMs) that exist in practice. Our research shows that transactional and relational CSBMs differ in how they propose, create, and capture value which, in turn, has implications for the (...)
