Este artículo se centra en el análisis de las características sociales, políticas y emocionales de las políticas y culturas alternativas de la menstruación, así como en los cambios que están sucediendo a ese nivel. Para ello se atiende a su intensificación y diversificación y a las diversas estrategias político-sensoriales, así como a los afectos y a las ideologías de género, salud y consumo que subyacen y se generan en dichas propuestas. La hipótesis de partida es que analizar todos estos cambios (...) puede servir para identificar y estudiar transformaciones más generales de la sociedad. El artículo concluye proponiendo algunos retos epistemológicos, políticos y sociales para seguir indagando en dichas culturas alternativas. (shrink)

In this text we explore and present some elements that allow us to consider the elaboration of a feminist theory of the State. In principle, it is about starting from a materialistic philosophical perspective that provides us with a broad and rigorous framework for inquiry, which includes a consideration of the complex social topic in which our practices are inscribed and a special attention to the dynamics of affects that guide us in them. Based on this perspective, we propose the (...) concept of State of care. The logic of care to which we refer here is not limited to the problem of social reproduction but crosses the set of instances and practices, and simultaneously involves a way of knowing, a way of being and a way of constituting oneself. Analytic metaphysics of gender has taken an ameliorative turn towards ethical and political questions regarding what our concept of gender ought to be, and how gendered society should be structured. Abolitionism about gender, which claims that we ought to mandate gender out of existence, has therefore seen renewed interest. I consider three arguments for abolitionism from radically different perspectives: Haslanger’s simple argument, Escalante’s Gender Nihilism, and Okin’s argument from ideal theory. I argue that none of the above manage to establish (...) the desirability of abolitionism and that we should be wary of the abolitionist position, as it imperils trans lives. (shrink)
