  1. Sociobiology, God, and understanding.Charles J. Lumsden - 1989 - Zygon 24 (1):83-108.
This article presents the rationale of a new approach to the debate between sociobiology and religion. In it, I outline a sociobiology that may generate alternative and competing hypotheses about the existence of gods as beings (theisms) and the nature of their participation in the universe. I examine the central theoretical issues of this sociobiology and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of a sociobiological approach to theological issues, including problems pertinent to nontheistic theologies. A concluding case is made for an (...)

  • A theology for evolution: Haught, teilhard, and Tillich.Paul H. Carr - 2005 - Zygon 40 (3):733-738.
Paul Tillich and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin both have made contributions to a theology of evolution. In a 2002 essay John Haught expresses doubt that Tilllich's rather classical theology of “being” is radical enough to account for the “becoming” of evolution. Tillich's ontology of being includes the polarity of form and dynamics. Dynamics is the potentiality of being, that is, becoming. Tillich's dynamic dialectic of being and nonbeing is a more descriptive metaphor for the five mass extinctions of evolutionary history (...)

  • Relation between Christian Realism of Reinhold Niebuhr and Neo-orthodoxy.Vitaliy Brynov - 2020 - Ukrainian Religious Studies 90:88-104.
The article considers the development of the ideas of Christian realism as a philosophical and ethical concept of Reinhold Niebuhr. The background of the development of Christian realism’s ideas is described. It is noted that the most impact had Niebuhr’s personal attitude to philosophy and epistemology, as well as the practical experience of serving in Detroit. The methodological approach of Niebuhr is defined as a contrast between the ideal and the real, with the subsequent solving of the conflict between them. (...)

  • Зв'язок християнського реалізму рейнхольда нібура та неоортодоксії.Віталій Бринов - 2020 - Ukrainian Religious Studies 90:88-104.

  • Theonomous Business Ethics.Payman Tajalli - 2020 - Philosophy of Management 20 (1):57-73.
In this paper I engage the theonomous ethics of Paul Tillich to argue that morality is a matter of conviction and concern not determination of right or wrong, and moral imperative is not about doing what “right” is, rather it is the self-actualisation of individual through her intersubjective relationships. The motivational force behind self-actualisation stems from the strength of one’s hold on “ultimate concern”, and not the content of “ultimate concern” that maybe referred to by various names including God. The (...)
