  1. Political Organisational Silence and the Ethics of Care: EU Migrant Restaurant Workers in Brexit Britain.Laura J. Reeves & Alexandra Bristow - 2024 - Journal of Business Ethics 194 (4):825-844.
In this paper, we explore the experiences of EU migrants working in UK restaurants in the aftermath of the Brexit vote. We do so through a care ethics lens, which we bring together with the integrative approach to organisational silence to consider the ethical consequences of the organisational policies of political silence adopted by the restaurant chains in our qualitative empirical study. We develop the concept of political organisational silence and probe its ethical dimensions, showing how at the organisational level (...)

  • The Legalistic Organizational Response to Whistleblowers’ Disclosures in a Scandal: Law Without Justice?Oussama Ouriemmi - 2023 - Journal of Business Ethics 188 (1):17-35.
Organizational transgressions cause recurring scandals. Often disclosed by whistleblowers, they generate public outrage and force organizations to respond. Recent studies have tried to answer the question: “What happens after a transgression becomes publicly known?” They highlight organizational responses marked by recognition of the transgression, penance and reintegration of the organization. • Frugal Innovation Hijacked: The Co-optive Power of Co-creation.Linda Annala Tesfaye & Martin Fougère - 2022 - Journal of Business Ethics 180 (2):439-454.
In this paper we investigate how different discourses on frugal innovation are articulated, and how the dynamics between these different discourses have led to a certain dominant understanding of frugal innovation today. We analyse the dynamic interactions between three discourses on frugal innovation: innovations for the poor, grassroots innovations by the poor, and more recently co-creating frugal innovations with the poor. We argue that this latter discourse is articulated as a hegemonic project as it is designed to accommodate demands from (...)

  • Intention without action? Differences between whistleblowing intention and behavior on corruption and fraud.Sebastian Oelrich - 2021 - Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility 30 (3):447-463.
Whistleblowing is an effective tool against fraud and corruption in organizations. However, as researchers have struggled to acquire data on actual whistleblowers, research relies on hypothetical intention data and student samples, which is seen as a major limitation. Using a field study of 1,416 employees from China, Germany, and Russia, the purpose of this article is to identify differences and similarities between intention and actual whistleblowing decisions, thus aiding research and interpretation of prior and future studies. I also contribute by (...)
