  1. Expansions of Dually Pseudocomplemented Heyting Algebras.Christopher J. Taylor - 2017 - Studia Logica 105 (4):817-841.
We investigate expansions of Heyting algebras in possession of a unary term describing the filters that correspond to congruences. Hasimoto proved that Heyting algebras equipped with finitely many normal operators have such a term, generalising a standard construction on finite-type boolean algebras with operators. We utilise Hasimoto’s technique, extending the existence condition to a larger class of EHAs and some classes of double-Heyting algebras. Such a term allows us to characterise varieties with equationally definable principal congruences using a single equation. (...)

  • The algebraic significance of weak excluded middle laws.Tomáš Lávička, Tommaso Moraschini & James G. Raftery - 2022 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 68 (1):79-94.
For (finitary) deductive systems, we formulate a signature‐independent abstraction of the weak excluded middle law (WEML), which strengthens the existing general notion of an inconsistency lemma (IL). Of special interest is the case where a quasivariety algebraizes a deductive system ⊢. We prove that, in this case, if ⊢ has a WEML (in the general sense) then every relatively subdirectly irreducible member of has a greatest proper ‐congruence; the converse holds if ⊢ has an inconsistency lemma. The result extends, in (...)

  • (1 other version)The Power of a Propositional Constant.Robert Goldblatt & Tomasz Kowalski - 2014 - Journal of Philosophical Logic 43 (1):133-152.
Monomodal logic has exactly two maximally normal logics, which are also the only quasi-normal logics that are Post complete, and they are complete for validity in Kripke frames. Here we show that addition of a propositional constant to monomodal logic allows the construction of continuum many maximally normal logics that are not valid in any Kripke frame, or even in any complete modal algebra. We also construct continuum many quasi-normal Post complete logics that are not normal. The set of extensions (...)

In this paper, we show that all semisimple varieties of bounded weak-commutative residuated lattices with an S4-like modal operator are discriminator varieties. We also give a characterization of discriminator and EDPC varieties of bounded weak-commutative residuated lattices with an S4-like modal operator follows.
