    This article examines publication patterns over the last seventy years from the American Sociological Review and American Journal of Sociology, the two most prominent journals in sociology. We reconstructed the gender of all published authors and each author’s academic pedigree. Results would suggest that these journals published disproportionally more articles by male authors and their coauthors.   • Gender, ICTs, and Productivity in Low-Income Countries: Panel Study. [REVIEW]Wesley Shrum, Ricardo Duque & B. Paige Miller - 2012 - Science, Technology, and Human Values 37 (1):30-63.
    This essay presents the first analysis of gender differences in productivity using panel data on scientists in low-income countries. About 540 researchers in Ghana, Kenya, and Kerala were studied using the same survey instrument in 2001 and 2005. Results indicate very few gender disparities in outcomes at either period of the study with one exception: productivity in international journals.     Academic productivity is realized through resources obtained from professional networks in which scientists are embedded.
