  1. On the Supposed Connection Between Aristotle’s Metaphysics and Logic.John Ian K. Boongaling - 2018 - Problemos 93.
[full article, abstract in English; only abstract in Lithuanian] This paper investigates a particular strategy for establishing the deep connection between metaphysics and logic using Aristotle’s principle of non-contradiction and the theory of predication. The decisive move, according to this strategy, is to formulate and interpret the said principle as a metaphysical principle. In this paper, it is argued that: despite the strategy’s initial appeal, a successful argument still needs to be made in order to fully establish that metaphysics and (...)

  • God as the Other Within: Simone Weil on God, the Self and Love.Doga Col - 2023 - Dissertation, Maltepe University
Simone Weil (1909-1943) is a French philosopher who is also a prominent figure in the tradition of Christian mysticism. In her early philosophical writings and lectures, she describes her understanding of the aim of philosophy as “the Search for the Good”. Very much influenced by Plato, Descartes and Kant, Weil states that God as the absolute Good is beyond known truths and can only be reached through Love. This treatment of love as a destructive power whereby the Self effaces itself (...)

  • Entities and their genera: Slicing up the world the medieval way--and does it matter to formal ontology?Luis M. Augusto - 2022 - Journal of Knowledge Structures and Systems 3 (2):4-47.
Genera, typically hand-in-hand with their branching species, are essential elements of vocabulary-based information constructs, in particular scientific taxonomies. Should they also feature in formal ontologies, the highest of such constructs? I argue in this article that the answer is “Yes” and that the question posed in its title also has a Yes-answer: The way medieval ontologists sliced up the world into genera does matter to formal ontology. More specifically, the way Dietrich of Freiberg, a Latin scholastic, conceived and applied strictly (...)

  • Aristoteles'ten Heidegger'e varglığın çok anlamlılığı ve pratik bağlamdaki önemi.Özlem Duva - 2015 - Ethos: Dialogues in Philosophy and Social Sciences 8 (1).
Bu çalışmanın amacı Heidegger'in varlık kavramını ve bu kavramın çok anlamlılığını, pratik problemler açısından ele almaktır. Heidegger'in erken dönem çalışmalarında üzerinde yoğunlaşmış olduğu Aristoteles'in ontolojisi, onun varlık kavrayışını belirlemek açısından önemli bir yere sahiptir. Diğer yandan, varlığın çok anlamlılığı kavrayışı, -diğer varlıklarla birlikte-dünya içinde olmak için bir olanak sunabilir.
