El texto correspondiente se deriva de su comentario al De Anima libro III tratado 1 capítulos 1-3. De acuerdo con Alberto, la imaginación consigue la segunda de cuatro fases de la abstracción al abstraer desde la presencia del objeto percibido, mientras que la función propia de la fantasía consiste en entender el objeto sensible bajo sus aspectos intencionales.
