  1. Merleau-Ponty and Nishida: artistic expression as motor-perceptual faith.Adam Loughnane - 2019 - Albany: State University of New York Press.
In Merleau-Ponty and Nishida, Adam Loughnane initiates a dialogue between two of the twentieth century's most important phenomenologists from the Eastern and Western philosophical worlds. Loughnane guides the reader through the complexities and innovations of Nishida's and Merleau-Ponty's theories of artistic expression and their rarely explored concepts of faith. The intricacies of both philosophers' views are illuminated by analyses of artists, including Cézanne, Sesshū, Rodin, Hasegawa, and other major figures of European, Chinese, and Japanese art history, who enact a radical (...)

  • A philosophical relation between Taiwan and Japan: models of dialectical thought in Mou Zongsan’s and Nishida Kitaro’s theories.Jana S. Rošker - 2019 - Asian Philosophy 29 (4):333-350.
ABSTRACTThe article opens with a discussion of recent theoretical and methodological innovations in the field of comparative philosophy. In this regard, I propose and explain a new possible method of contrasting particular aspects of divergent philosophical texts or discourses and denote it as a ‘philosophy of sublation’. Then, the paper provides a concrete example for such a post-comparative method of reasoning, I will try to apply a ‘sublation philosophy’ approach for a reinterpretation of certain aspects of the complex philosophical intersections (...)

  • Dialética, experiência E intuição: Entre hermenêutica filosófica E filosofia budista.Luiz Rohden & Leonardo Marques Kussler - 2016 - Kriterion: Journal of Philosophy 57 (133):261-282.

  • Nishida and the Historical World: An Examination of Active Intuition, the Body, and Time.Elizabeth McManaman Grosz - 2014 - Comparative and Continental Philosophy 6 (2):143-157.
This article will examine the phase of Nishida’s thought in which he turns to the historical world and present the benefits of this turn to his overall philosophical project. In “The Philosophy of History in the ‘Later’ Nishida,” Woo-Sung Huh claims that Nishida Kitaro’s attempt to integrate history into his earlier writings on self-consciousness is a “wrong turn.” I will demonstrate how Huh’s criticism of Nishida’s writings on history stems from Huh’s own ontological assumption that consciousness and the historical world (...)

  • The ‘way of flowers’ and the care of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in Japan.Yukiko Himeno, Osamu Inoue & Fernando Vidal - 2020 - Arxiu D’Etnografia de Catalunya 21:27-68.
Tracheostomy with invasive ventilation may be required for the survival of patients at advanced stages of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In Japan it has been shown that a proactive approach toward TIV may prolong the survival of ALS patients by over 10 years by preventing the lethal respiratory failure that generally occurs within 3-5 years of the onset of the disease. Measures to prolong life expectancy without foregoing quality of life have produced better results in Japan than in other developed countries. (...)

  • Experiencia, Autoconciencia y Voluntad.
