  1. THE PLACE OF AFRICAN ANIMAL ETHICS WITHIN THE WELFARIST AND RIGHTIST DEBATE: AN INTERROGATION OF AKAN ONTOLOGICAL AND ETHICAL BELIEFS TOWARD ANIMALS AND THE ENVIRONMENT.Stephen Nkansah Morgan - 2020 - Dissertation, University of Kwazulu-Natal
Scholars in the field of environmental and animal ethics have propounded theories that outline what, in their view, ought to constitute an ethical relationship between humans and the environment and humans and nonhuman animals respectively. In the field of animal ethics, the contributions by Western scholars to theorize a body of animal ethics, either as an ethic in its own right or as a branch of the broader field of environmental ethics is clearly seen. • How Not to Talk About Environmental Personhood: Thinking Transitional Concepts.Russell J. Duvernoy - 2023 - Law and Critique 34 (2):287-307.
This paper studies “environmental personhood” legislation as a transitional concept. The paper introduces Nuu-chah-nuulth (...)

The latter are classified in terms of three broad types of normative theorising: distributive justice, institutional/legal reform, and the good life. Within these three categories, the (...)

  • Entertaining Commodities or Living Beings? Public Perception of Animal Welfare at Local Festivals in South Korea.Hyomin Park, Myung-Sun Chun, Yechan Jung, Jaeye Bae & Seola Joo - 2022 - Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics 36 (1):1-19.
Many festivals use animals in the name of continuing traditions and religious acts of historical and cultural relevance, as well as for tourist entertainment; however, the welfare of these animals has been overlooked in favor of maintaining cultural identity or making economic profits. The criticism of animal-based festivals has been growing along with the increased public awareness of animal rights. However, this change in public perception has not yet been translated into actual government policies in Korea. This study addresses the (...)
