  1. The Limited Role of Social Sciences and Humanities in Interdisciplinary Funding: What are Its Effects?Anita Välikangas - 2024 - Social Epistemology 38 (2):152-172.
There is wide agreement among scholars in research policy that the position of the social sciences and humanities (SSH) in interdisciplinary research is not as good as it should be. Academics give many reasons why SSH fields should become more active collaborators in interdisciplinarity, including the capacity within these disciplines to introduce new research questions and to make interdisciplinary research more ethically and societally grounded. • How institutional solutions meant to increase diversity in science fail.Inkeri Koskinen - 2022 - Synthese 200 (6).

  • Boundary Discourse of Crossdisciplinary and Cross-Sector Research: Refiguring the Landscape of Science.Julie Thompson Klein - 2023 - Minerva 61 (1):31-52.
This discourse analysis of metaphors of the crossdisciplinary composite of inter- and trans-disciplinary research gleans in sights for science today. The first section establishes a baseline by comparing spatial images to growing use of organic metaphors in an ecology of knowledge production. Following logically from the comparison, the second reflects on metaphors of exchange and transaction in trading zones, transaction spaces, and third spaces, then addresses implications for the earlier exemplar of Mode 2 knowledge production. The third section considers the (...)
