Если личность (personhood) 1 -это качество или состояние, позволяющее быть отдельным лицом, то церебральностью (brainhood) можно назвать качество или состояние, позволяющее быть мозгом. Через это онтоло гическое качество определяется «церебральный субъект», получивший, по крайней мере, в индустриально развитых и высокомедикализирован-ных обществах, множество социальных описаний начиная с середины ХХ века. В статье исследуется историческое развитие церебральности. Предлагается рассмотреть мозг как необходимую область локализации «современного Я», и, следовательно, церебральный субъект - как антропологический тип современности (хотя бы потому, что современность придает высшую ценность (...) человеку как автономному агенту выбора и инициативы). Также утверждается, что идеология церебральности стала причиной возникновения множества нейроисследований, а не их следствием; показано, как разрастающийся комплекс нейрокультурных дискурсов и практик воплощает и поддерживает эту идеологию. Neural fetal tissue transplantation offers promise as a treatment for devasting neurologic conditions such as Parkinson's disease. Two types of issues arise from this procedure: those associated with the use of fetuses, and those associated with the use of neural tissue. The former issues have been examined in many forums; the latter have not. This paper reviews issues and arguments raised by the use of fetal tissue in general, but focuses on the implications of the use of neural tissue for (...) basic concepts of personnood and personal identity. In this essay, I attempt to provide answers to the following four queries concerning the metaphysics of early human embryogenesis. (1) Following its first cellular fission, is it coherent to claim that one and only one of two “blastomeric” twins of a human zygote is identical with that zygote? (2) Following the fusion of two human pre-embryos, is it coherent to claim that one and only one pre-fusion pre-embryo is identical with that postfusion pre-embryo? (3) Does a live human being (...) come into existence only when its brain comes into existence? (4) At implantation, does a pre-embryo become a mere part of its mother? I argue that either if things have quidditative properties or if criterialism is false, then queries (1) and (2) can be answered in the affirmative; that in light of recent developments in theories of human death and in light of a more “functional” theory of brains, query (3) can be answered in the negative; and that plausible mereological principles require a negative answer to query (4).
