  1. A unifying field in logics: Neutrosophic logic.Florentin Smarandache - 1999 - In [Book Chapter].
The author makes an introduction to non-standard analysis, then extends the dialectics to “neutrosophy” – which became a new branch of philosophy. This new concept helps in generalizing the intuitionistic, paraconsistent, dialetheism, fuzzy logic to “neutrosophic logic” – which is the first logic that comprises paradoxes and distinguishes between relative and absolute truth. Similarly, the fuzzy set is generalized to “neutrosophic set”. Also, the classical and imprecise probabilities are generalized to “neutrosophic probability”.

  • Beyond the essential contestation: Construction and deconstruction of regional identity.Susan A. van, 'T. Klooster, Marjolein B. A. van Asselt & Sjaak P. Koenis - 2002 - Ethics, Place and Environment 5 (2):109 – 121.
In this paper we aim to shed light on the dynamics of regional identity construction and deconstruction. We will argue that four forms of identity can be identified that are linked through various processes of change. To that end, we will theoretically conceptualise 'identity' by discussing historical and current scholarly debates on identity in a variety of scientific disciplines. Then, we will argue that the mutual contradiction of the current theories is a paradox if seen from the angle of regional (...)

  • The Philosophical Underpinnings of Social Constructionist Discourse Analysis.Marek Gralewski - 2011 - Lodz Papers in Pragmatics 7 (1):155-171.
The Philosophical Underpinnings of Social Constructionist Discourse Analysis Although discourse analysis emerges as a multi-faceted research method reflecting various schools of thought, disciplines and approaches, it is possible to pinpoint some meta-theoretical issues or fundamental assumptions common for most of them. This article aims to investigate different philosophical aspects and theoretical foundations that inform discourse analysis, such as the interplay between epistemological and ontological dimensions or the definition of language itself. Because space does not allow an in-depth discussion of all (...)

  • Truth, Beauty and Goodness: Freedom and the Platonic Triad in Eric Rohmer’s Film Theory.Hanne Schelstraete - 2022 - Film-Philosophy 26 (3):331-351.
This article analyses Eric Rohmer’s film theory in the light of the Platonic triad of truth, beauty and goodness, as embodied by the aesthetic philosophy of Kant, Hegel and Schiller. Although his film theory shows affinity with Kant’s ideal of art as a form of natural beauty, I will argue that a broader look at Rohmer’s philosophical foundations is necessary. The point where Rohmer’s film theory deviates from Kant’s triadic philosophy is exactly the point where he approaches the aesthetics of (...)
