  1. Kultura polityczna w kontekście procesu legitymizującego władzę polityczną.Krzysztof Przybyszewski - 2014 - Władza Sądzenia 4 (1).
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie głównych problemów związanych z legitymizacją władzy politycznej. W pierwszej części syntetycznie przedsta - wiono możliwe rozumienia samego pojęcia legitymizacji oraz terminów z nią pokrewnych. W drugiej części artykułu podjęto próbę omówienia istoty procesu legitymizacji w danych kulturach politycznych. Punktem wyjścia do tej analizy uczyniono podstawową typologię kultur politycznych zaproponowaną przez amerykańskich politologów G.A. Almonda i S. Verby’ego. W ostatniej części artykułu przyjęto założenie, że we współczesnych demokra - cjach proces legitymizacji jest iluzoryczny ze względu na brak (...)

Current discussions about education suggest that a transformative pedagogy that goes beyond the acquisition of knowledge and skills is needed. However, there is no agreement as to the inputs needed for a correct development of the educational model. In this sense, we can identify the presence of two different approaches to human and social capital which embody distinct educational worldviews. On the one hand, the ‘Marketable Human Capital’ or ‘Personal Culture’ approach, and on the other hand, the ‘Non-Marketable Human Capital’ (...)

  • Citizens and selves : rethinking education for democratic citizenship.Joshua L. Novis - unknown
This thesis is a critical examination of the history of philosophies governing public education in the United States. The first half, chapters one through six, outlines American conceptions of the role of the school in relation to the state and to democracy. The second half is an account of critical progressive philosophies that have challenged the American status-quo since the independence. The main argument that I propose here is that the creation of an education system in America has followed the (...)

  • Habits of Democracy: A Deweyan Approach to Citizenship Education in America Today.Sarah M. Stitzlein - 2014 - Education and Culture 30 (2):61-86.
Throughout his works, John Dewey makes deep and intriguing connections between democracy, education, and daily life. His ideas have contributed to both the theory and practice of participatory democracy and, although he actually “had surprisingly little to say about democratic citizenship” directly, his scholarship has influenced the ideas of others working on citizenship education and has provided rich notions of democracy, education, experience, and public life underlying it.1 However, Dewey commentators Michael Eldridge and Robert Westbrook worry that, although Dewey promoted (...)
