Članek obravnava najprej sodobne politično-pravne refleksije o prehodu od Lockove aplikativne teologije k Humovi in Smithovi družbeni analizi, v nadaljevanju pa se osredini na vprašanje: kako misliti »moč pozitivne zakonodaje« v razviti moderni družbi, ki nima več ne božjega ne naravnega temelja, ne da bi zato zakonodaja padla v relativizem.
