  1. On Σ1 1 equivalence relations with Borel classes of bounded rank.Ramez L. Sami - 1984 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 49 (4):1273 - 1283.
    In Baire space N = ω ω we define a sequence of equivalence relations $\langle E_\nu| \nu , each E v being Σ 1 1 with classes in Π 0 1 + ν + 1 and such that (i) E ν does not have perfectly many classes, and (ii) N/E ν is countable iff $\omega^L_\nu . This construction can be extended cofinally in (δ 1 3 ) L . A new proof is given of a theorem of Hausdorff on partitions (...)

  • Decomposing the real line into Borel sets closed under addition.Márton Elekes & Tamás Keleti - 2015 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 61 (6):466-473.
We consider decompositions of the real line into pairwise disjoint Borel pieces so that each piece is closed under addition. How many pieces can there be? We prove among others that the number of pieces is either at most 3 or uncountable, and we show that it is undecidable in and even in the theory if the number of pieces can be uncountable but less than the continuum. We also investigate various versions: what happens if we drop the Borelness requirement, (...)

  • Projective subsets of separable metric spaces.Arnold W. Miller - 1990 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 50 (1):53-69.
In this paper we will consider two possible definitions of projective subsets of a separable metric space X. A set A subset of or equal to X is Σ11 iff there exists a complete separable metric space Y and Borel set B subset of or equal to X × Y such that A = {x ε X : there existsy ε Y ε B}. Except for the fact that X may not be completely metrizable, this is the classical definition of (...)
