  1. Optimierung und ökonomisierung im kontext Von evolutionstheorie und phylogenetischer rekonstruktion.Klaus Bonik, Wolfgang Friedrich Gutmann & D. Stefan Peters - 1977 - Acta Biotheoretica 26 (2):75-119.
The meaning of optimality and economy in phylogenetics and evolutionary biology is discussed. It can be shown that the prevailing concepts of optimality and economy are equivocal as they are not based on strict theoretical positions and as they have a variable meaning in different theoretical contexts. The ideas of optimality and economy can be considered to be identical with the expectation of a relatively simple order in a particular field of study. Although there exists no way of inferring one or (...)

  • Social and ethical aspects of biology part of theoretical biology?H. Verhoog - 1975 - Acta Biotheoretica 24 (1-2):22-34.
Recent interest in the social and ethical aspects of biology raises the question of the disciplinary status of the study of these aspects of biology . In the traditional interpretations of theoretical biology the social and ethical aspects are usually not explicitly mentioned. In this article arguments are given for inclusion of the study of these aspects of biology within a broadened conception of theoretical biology.
