THE DIGITAL ECONOMY IN A GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

The article aims to clarify society's digital transformation under the influence of the explosive growth of cross-border data and cross-border e-commerce, which led to the next stage of globalization. A characteristic feature of it is becoming a new form of organizing economic relations – the digital economy. The essence of globalization, its components, stages, and trends are considered. The advantages provided by the development of modern information and communication technologies to the participants in the globalization process are reflected. The characteristics of the digital economy as a new stage of economic development are presented, its various definitions and specific features are considered. The features of the development of cross-border electronic commerce, the advantages it provides, and the essence of cryptocurrencies as potentially new world money are described. Considerable attention is paid to the development trends of new global digital processes and the digital economy's risks.
