Abstract
Why does the art of kintsugi help us understand how a person can start anew after a crisis? A person who is reborn after trauma is like a broken vase that is put back together through the art of kintsugi. In this art, the pieces of a broken vase are meticulously reassembled using a golden adhesive. As such, the veins of gold are an alien element that was not previously present in the vase, and yet it is these veins that hold the new vase together, and which characterize it with their traces. In the case of a person who is reborn after trauma, the gold veins that put her back together are the care relations of the other.
