Abstract

A new study highlights how urban green infrastructure can do more than manage water—it can reshape relationships between people, places, and power. In npj Urban Sustainability, Mguni et al. explore a unique experiment in Cape Town, South Africa, where researchers and residents codesigned a nature-based solution (NbS) to retrofit a stormwater detention pond in the historically marginalized area of Mitchells Plain.
