Abstract

Biodiversity continues to decline at an alarming pace, yet public financial investments overwhelmingly support activities that exacerbate this loss rather than reverse it. A recent study by Selomane et al. (2025) reveals a critical misalignment between national and international public finance allocations and the biodiversity conservation targets set by global agreements such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
