Abstract
This article presents a comprehensive assessment of web services based on SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and REST (Representational State Transfer) principles, focusing on their application in mobile environments and multimedia conference scenarios. As web services enable seamless communication and data exchange across diverse systems, understanding their performance characteristics in different contexts is crucial. SOAP, with its protocol-driven approach and emphasis on security and reliability, and REST, known for its simplicity, scalability, and efficiency, are evaluated using key performance metrics such as latency, throughput, scalability, and reliability. This assessment aims to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of each approach, providing insights into their suitability for resource-constrained mobile applications and high-performance multimedia conferencing. The results and analysis offer valuable guidance for developers and decision-makers in selecting the most appropriate web service methodology to enhance application performance and user experience in these environments.
