Abstract

Environmental change is placing increasing strain on communities that depend directly on natural resources. Along Kenya’s coast, small-scale fishing communities face mounting challenges as marine resources decline, threatening both food security and livelihoods. In such contexts, adaptation is not merely desirable—it is vital. However, not all community members are equally able to shape or participate in the decisions that drive adaptation, raising fundamental concerns about fairness and justice.
