Abstract
Soil carbon sequestration has long been championed as a promising strategy for mitigating climate change. By drawing carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere and storing it in soils through plants and organic matter, this process is often seen as a natural solution to reduce greenhouse gas concentrations. However, a recent comprehensive review by Don et al. (2023) reveals that the role of soil carbon sequestration is frequently misunderstood, miscommunicated, and, at times, overstated
in its potential to counter climate change.
