    Normative reasons for action are considerations in favor of doing something. One view of what makes any of our desires or impulses reasons for us to act, that of Christine Korsgaard, is voluntaristic: it claims that we assess desires or impulses in light of practical conceptions of our identity, and then legislate reasons for ourselves on their basis.
