  1. Believing in God the Father: Interpreting a phrase from the Apostle’s Creed.Marcel Sarot - 2016 - HTS Theological Studies 72 (4):1-4.
In our days, the creedal phrase 'I believe in God the Father almighty' is interpreted primarily along Trinitarian lines: It is applied to God as the Father of Jesus Christ. Here I argue that it has a dual background: in Jesus' prayer practice, in which He consistently addressed God as 'Father', and in the Hellenistic habit of referring to the Creator as 'Father'. I discuss Jesus' use of the term 'Father' against its Old Testament background, and argue that it primarily (...)

  • ¿Qué es una ‘religión’? Tres teorías recientes.José Tomás Alvarado Marambio - 2016 - 'Ilu. Revista de Ciencias de Las Religiones 21:31-49.
In this work three recent proposal of analysis of the concept of ‘religion’ are discussed. There is a strong convergence between these three proposals in several points: all of them maintain that a religion should be the belief of something –a set of propositions, the object of a propositional attitude like a belief–, all of them maintain that the object of the belief should be a theory about the good, and all of them maintain that a religion should have important (...)

  • Ateísmo y espiritualidad.Alicia Ramos González - 2016 - 'Ilu. Revista de Ciencias de Las Religiones 21:165-183.
In this article we present an approach to the new spirituality. In contemporary world we find atheistic and spiritual people. How is this possible? We try to analyze. First we make an approach to the concept of religion. We present a historical perspective of the concept. An atheistic religion is possible depending on the definition of religion we use. Also we analyze, as an example of the context of the twentieth century, Sigmund Freud forecast around the end of religions and (...)

  • On the Logic of the Christian Trinity: Co-Inherence and the Nesting Relationships.Ioan BiriÈ™ - 2018 - Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies 17 (50):17-29.
The present study intends to demonstrate that there is no logical-formal inconsistency in the Christian Trinity. However, the demonstration requires specific tools, other than those of classical logic. There are many older or newer attempts that try to remove the thesis of the inconsistency of the Christian Trinity. There is often a call for mathematical tools. As far as we are concerned, we will appeal to co -inherence and the nesting relationships specific to the Christian Trinity, as they appear especially (...)
