In den Diskussionen des Sokrates geht es um das Verhältnis von Rhetorik, Macht, Gerechtigkeit und Glück, um die Beziehung zwischen der Lust und dem Guten und um die Frage nach der richtigen Lebensführung. Aus Kritik an den Politikern Athens entwickelt Platon Thesen einer guten und richtigen Politik. Ein Schlussmythos bestätigt die von Sokrates vertretenen Grundsätze. Die Übersetzung gibt Inhalt und Sprachduktus des Originals in zeitgemäßem Deutsch möglichst getreu (...) wieder. Der Kommentar ist so gestaltet, dass er auch für Leser ohne Griechischkenntnisse verständlich ist. This paper focuses on the concept of the "intentional arc" in Merleau-Ponty, who maintains that perception comes into play within, and is nourished by, an already established relation between the person and the world. That obscure relation, the intentional arc, is the "genesis" of perception, and this paper argues that in it resides the proper theme of a psychological phenomenology of perception. A study of the intentional arc shows that perception is not a passive, causal, impersonal process. On the contrary, (...) perception is active in that it requires the perceiver's free consent to the solicitations stemming from the world; it is thus only motivated or beckoned, but not caused; and it rests on a personal foundation, which is to say that it depends on the entire psychological life of the perceiver. A subsequent paper will enrich and develop the implications of this thesis by taking up the phenomenology of hallucinations. (shrink)

Technical delusions are highly significant for the diagnosis of schizophrenia. What can we learn from the content and the formal aspects of this kind of delusion about the primary schizophrenic experiences underlying the technical delusion and about its meaning and purpose for the patient? In a phenomenological investigation of six schizophrenics, comparing their experiences in technical delusion with the normal experience of technical phenomena, I describe the patient's relationship to himself, to his world, and to others and the modalities of (...) his hallucinatory perceptions. Finally, I discuss the effect of the technical delusion on the patient's relationship to reality. (shrink)
