Central to vaccination-induced responses, antibodies are suggested by Vaz to operate as observer-dependent entities that owe their status to categorization schemes of immunologists. Inspired by color research by Maturana, he argues that antibodies should be distinguished from immunoglobulins, which unlike the former can be considered as constituents of structural dynamics of an organism, products of millions of years of evolution. Abstract: Sickle cell disease (SCD) comprises an inherited blood disorder that is life long and affects many people globally. Despite progress in therapy, SCA is a considerable cause of mortality and morbidity. This study was designed to measure the immunological and inflammatory parameters of patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) and to found if there is any role of it in the pathogenicity of the disease. This study included A total of 32 patients, their ages ranged from 16 to 55 (...) years patients with Sickle cell disease who have been evaluated during vaso occlusive crisis and had been followed up till they attained steady state, and there are 32 normal control subjects matched with patients in age and sex. In general there was elevation in all parameters the study were included in patients than control and particularly in crisis, despite the IgM value which was insignificantly decrease, but the statically significant elevation reported only in CRP, IgG, IgA. Objective: To determine the frequency and type of food allergy in patients having atopic dermatitis and to show the presence of mutations genetically. -/- Methods: Patients diagnosed as having atopic dermatitis according to the Hanifin Rajka criteria were evaluated retrospectively. Eosinophils, total immunoglobin E, milk-specific immunoglobulin E, egg-specific immunoglobulin E, wheat-specific immunoglobulin E, and filaggrin gene mutation results were recorded. Nutrient elimination was performed for 1 month in patients who were thought to have food allergy owing to (...) skin prick test and milk-specific immunoglobulin E results. The diagnosis was confirmed through a food loading test for the patients who benefited from the elimination. -/- Results: Of the 66 patients included in the study, 42 (63.63%) were male. Food allergies were detected in 40 patients (60.6%). According to the Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis index, 9 out of 16 patients aged 40 years and over had food allergy and 31 out of 50 patients aged under 40 years had food allergy. There was no significant difference between the groups (P=.56). All patients included in the study were examined for filaggrin. Only 1 patient with a Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis index below 40 and milk allergy was found to have p.R501 * and c.2282-2285delCAGT mutations. -/- Conclusion: Atopic dermatitis food allergy was found to be 60.6%. The most common improvement was egg allergy and egg elimination. There was no difference between atopic dermatitis severity and food allergy and laboratory tests. Severe atopic dermatitis was found to be 24.2%. (shrink)

Serum lmmunglobulin and Complement Levels in the Patients With Head and Neck Carcinoma and the Evaluation of Autoantibody Positivity Ratein this study, smooth muscle antibody (SMA), anti-nücleer antibody (ANA) anti- mitochondrial antibody (AMA), anti-parietal cell antibody (PA), antiglomerular basal membrane antibody (GM), serum immunglobulins and complement-C3 levels have been searched. The positivity rate of ANA (31.91 %) and SMA (38.29 %) were found high in sera of the patients with head and neck carcinoma which had been diagnosed histopathologically. But the (...) positivity rate of AMA (4.25 %) PA (12.76 %) and GM (2.12 %) were low in the same group. ANA and SMA were detected in 1 O of 30 patients with laryngeal carcinoma; ANA were detected in 5 of 9 patients (55.5 %) and SMA were found in 4 of 9 patients (44.5 %) with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. There was no significant deviation in the levels of immunglobulins and complement-C3. The highest levels of immunoglobulins have been detected in patients with laryngeal carcinoma. Finding of high positivity rate of ANA and SMA in the patients with head and neck carcinoma showed an accordance with the other investigators' results. (shrink)
