  1. Signature of Serum miR-199a/b in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery.Erman Kandilli, Şenay Görücü Yılmaz, Murat Yardımcı, Muradiye Nacak & Necla Benlier - 2023 - European Journal of Therapeutics 29 (1):1-9.
Objective: microRNAs (miRNAs) have important potential as biomarkers in the diagnosis and prognosis of ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery (CABG). This study investigated the relationship between preoperative (preop) and postoperative (post-op) cardiac parameters and miRNA expressions in CABG. -/- Methods: We analyzed a total of 94 individuals (CABG, n= 46 and healthy control, n=48). Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT) was performed to determine plasma miRNA expressions (miR-21, miR-181a, miR-199a, miR-199b, and miR-320a-5p) in triplicates: before (...)

    Hyperthermia-Induced Vasoconstriction: A Physiological Counter Mechanism.Rowena Kong - 2023 - Journal of Psychiatry and Psychology Research 6 (S2):4.
The paradoxical phenomena of hyperthermia-induced vasoconstriction, hyperthermia- induced hypothermia, and hyperthermia induced arterial vasoconstriction have been observed in animal heatstroke clinical case studies. We attempt to explain the basic mechanism behind such findings in terms of the principle of body heat conservation and natural countermeasure against heat exposure through reduction in the extent of vascular surface area exposed. One study which examined the outcome of heating a rabbit carotid artery produced graded vasoconstriction which is proportional to temperature increase. These interesting (...)
